Springbok Fixtures and Test Calendar
The Springboks play Test rugby almost year-round, in a calendar with a clear shape. Here is how the Bok season is structured and what each block means when you bet.
The shape of the Bok year
The Springbok calendar runs in three main blocks. July brings the incoming series, when a touring nation plays a run of Tests in South Africa — home Tests where the Boks are usually strong favourites. The Rugby Championship follows against New Zealand, Australia and Argentina, home and away. Then the November end-of-year tour takes the Boks to the northern hemisphere to face the home unions and France away from home. Across all three, there is a market on every Test.
What each block means for betting
Home Tests in July carry the biggest Bok handicaps, because the Boks are heavy favourites — the bet is about the margin. The Rugby Championship is tighter, especially away to the All Blacks, so handicaps shrink and the result market is live. The November tour mixes both: kind handicaps against weaker sides, tight contests against Ireland and France. There is also series betting on multi-Test tours — see the Springboks odds page. Frequently asked questions
When do the Springboks play in a typical year?
An incoming series at home in July, the Rugby Championship against New Zealand, Australia and Argentina mid-year, and a northern-hemisphere tour in November, plus the World Cup and the Lions when those come around.
Which Springbok fixtures are best for handicap betting?
Home Tests against weaker sides, where the Boks are heavy favourites and the bet becomes about the winning margin rather than the result. The away Rugby Championship Tests are tighter, so the result market is more live.
