Springbok Odds
Springbok odds span single Tests, multi-Test series and the competitions they play. Here is how each market works, what moves the prices, and where the value tends to sit.
Match and handicap prices
On a single Test, the Boks are usually the favourites, so the match-result price is short — often too short to excite. That is why the handicap price matters more: it asks the Boks to win by a set margin and pays accordingly, and the line moves on the opposition, the venue and team selection. A home Test against a weaker side carries a big Bok handicap; an away Test against a top side a small one. The full method is on the handicap page.
Series and competition outrights
You can also back South Africa to win a multi-Test series — including the exact scoreline, such as 2-1 or 3-0 — or to win a whole competition. The Boks are typically near the head of the Rugby Championship market and a perennial favourite for the World Cup. Outright odds open early and shorten as form firms up, so backing them ahead of time can lock in a bigger price. The price you take is fixed even if it shortens later. See the Springboks predictions page for where the value sits.
Frequently asked questions
Why are Springbok match odds so short?
Because the Boks win most of their Tests, the bookmaker prices them as clear favourites. To get a bigger price you back the handicap, which asks them to win by a margin.
Do my odds change after I bet?
No. You take the price shown when you place the bet, and it is locked in — your payout is set even if the Boks shorten later.
