Baccarat Guide
Baccarat looks formal, but it is one of the simplest games in the casino. You do not play a hand so much as bet on which of two hands wins. Each round you back the Player, the Banker or a Tie, the cards are dealt to fixed rules, and the hand closest to a total of 9 takes the round. There is nothing to memorise mid-hand and no decisions to agonise over.

What baccarat is
Despite the high-roller reputation, baccarat is a near-coinflip game of chance. You stake your rand on one of three outcomes before any cards turn over, the dealer follows a rigid set of drawing rules, and whichever hand ends closest to 9 wins. The appeal is the low house edge on the Banker bet — around 1.06% — which is among the best in the casino. Just remember that a low edge is still an edge: the game favours the house over time, and no system changes that.

Frequently asked questions
Is baccarat hard to learn?
No. It is one of the easiest casino games to play because you only choose which hand to back — Player, Banker or Tie. The dealer handles every card decision using fixed rules, so there is nothing to work out during the round.
Which baccarat bet has the lowest house edge?
The Banker bet, at roughly 1.06% even after the 5% commission on Banker wins. The Player bet is close at about 1.24%, while the Tie carries a steep edge of around 14% and is best avoided.
Can a betting system make baccarat profitable?
No. Baccarat is a game of chance with a built-in house edge on every bet. Pattern-spotting and progressive staking systems do not change the odds of the next hand and cannot guarantee a profit. Play 18+ and only with money you can afford to lose.
