United Rugby Championship Play-Offs

The URC play-offs — quarter-finals, semis and a one-off Grand Final — are where the season is decided, and knockout betting plays differently to the league phase. Here is how it works.

How the play-offs work

The top eight from the league phase go into the knockouts: quarter-finals, then semi-finals, then a single Grand Final for the trophy. Seeding matters because the higher-ranked team hosts at each stage right up to the final, so a strong regular season buys home advantage when it counts most. A finish in the top four is the prize teams chase, and it shortens their United Rugby Championship outright odds sharply.

How knockout betting differs

One match, no second chance — knockout betting is tighter than the league phase. Home advantage swings the handicap, and with the SA sides hosting at altitude that edge is real. 'To qualify' and extra-time markets come into play, and an accumulator across knockout favourites is tempting but risky — one upset and it is gone. See the URC guide for the full markets and the SA franchises page for backing the local sides.
