Lightning Roulette
Lightning Roulette is standard live roulette with one added twist. Each round, between one and five numbers on the table are struck at random as Lightning Numbers and given a multiplier. Every usual roulette bet still applies, and the wheel and table play exactly as you expect. The difference is what happens to a winning straight-up bet on a struck number, which is paid at its multiplier rather than the standard 35 to 1. To fund this, straight-up payouts are reduced.
| Format | Live roulette with struck Lightning Numbers |
|---|---|
| Lightning Numbers | One to five struck at random each round |
| Straight-up win | Pays the multiplier instead of 35 to 1 |
| Other bets | All standard roulette bets apply |
How A Round Plays Out
You bet as you would on any roulette table, placing chips on numbers, splits, columns, dozens, reds, blacks and the rest. Once betting closes, the Lightning strikes hit between one and five numbers and assign each a multiplier at random. The host then spins the wheel. If the ball lands on a number where you held a winning straight-up bet, and that number was struck, your win is paid at the multiplier shown rather than the usual rate. All other bet types pay at their normal odds.
The Trade-Off To Understand
The multipliers on Lightning Numbers are not free. To pay for them, the standard straight-up payout is reduced below the usual 35 to 1. That means a straight-up win on an unstruck number returns less than it would on a classic table, while a win on a struck number can pay a great deal more. Outside bets such as red, black, odds and dozens are unaffected and pay exactly as they do in standard roulette, so the change only touches single-number bets.
Standard Roulette Alongside It
If you prefer the classic game without the strikes, you can play it on our Live Casino Roulette tables, where straight-up bets pay at the usual rate. Lightning Roulette suits players who enjoy single-number bets and the chance of a multiplier, while a standard table suits those who lean on outside bets. Both run with a live host and rand stakes. Whichever you choose, the result is decided by the wheel, so set a budget before you start.
Frequently asked questions
What are Lightning Numbers
They are between one and five numbers struck at random each round and given a multiplier. A winning straight-up bet on a struck number is paid at that multiplier instead of the standard straight-up rate.
Why are straight-up payouts reduced
The reduced straight-up rate funds the multipliers on Lightning Numbers. It applies to single-number wins. Outside bets such as red, black, columns and dozens are not affected and pay as normal.
Can I still place all the usual roulette bets
Yes. Every standard bet applies, including splits, corners, columns, dozens and even-money bets. The Lightning feature only changes how a winning straight-up bet on a struck number is paid.
Is Lightning Roulette played with a live dealer
Yes. It is streamed from a studio with a live host who spins the wheel each round. You place your bets during the timer before betting closes and the strikes are revealed.
